Frequently Asked Questions
Should my graphic designer/marketing agency design my website?
While it is convenient to have one designer put your materials together, it is better to have us design the site using elements from your printed materials to create a seamless look and feel across all mediums. Often, print designers will not know what they can and can't do on the web. This lack of knowledge can either cause you to get a less robust site, or a very complexly coded site to achieve the "look" that the designer had in mind.
Can future-ink create my print/marketing materials too?
Yes! While graphic designers and web designers use similar toolsets, their skill sets are very different (as mentioned above). We prefer to keep our competencies strong by having separate designers for printed materials. Our teams of designers work closely to ensure that your brand comes across strong and clear no matter what the medium.
What do I need to get started?
Ideally, you should have a solid idea about what you want your website to do. Functionality is key to a successful site. If you want to sell a product, that website will be much different from a site that is simply educational. Think about what pages you will need to accomplish your ultimate goal. You can download a "Request for Proposal (RFP)" template that will give you ideas and help you define what you want.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes, we offer a 30-minute free consultation by phone or at our office location. For a first-time consultation, a phone call is generally sufficient enough for you to get to know us and ask the questions you need to ensure we can handle your project. Contact us to schedule a consultation.
What is your estimate process?
After our initial consultation, you would send us details about your project. Ecommerce, social networking, classified sites, or any other sites beyond the basic "page and links structure" will need detailed specs for us to give you an accurate estimate Our RFP template can help you with spec development. If you only have the "idea" but don't know where to start, we can consult with you to develop your project specifications. Once that is complete we can estimate the project, and you can take the specs to other developers to get competing bids. We charge an hourly consulting fee for this service as it is a process that will deliver a finished product. The cost of spec development will apply toward the estimate total for your project. Basic "page and link" estimates are free.
Can you write copy for my site?
