Because web application projects vary so greatly from one to another, we can't tell you how long your development will take until we've assessed the entire project. However, we provide milestones and approximate launch times during the discovery phase.

Estimate Process

If we can determine the cost of the project accurately within a couple of hours, we will deliver a final estimate at no charge. However, we charge for estimates if the project is complex enough that the additional research, client meetings, and specification writing requires more than two hours of our time.

Why do we charge?

Development projects are often so complex and varied that it is impossible to set a base cost for them. In order to make the estimate accurate, we need to take time to understand exactly what you want, and how the site will work under any and all circumstances. Estimating development projects is time-consuming and requires the input of our designers, programmers, and project managers. We complete research, we consult with you to determine your needs and clarify parameters, then we write a detailed specification document that spells out exactly what you're getting and how it will work.

What you get

After we develop your specification document, it is yours to keep. You may take it to any other developer you choose and have them estimate the project as well. If you choose to use us to develop your project, any monies spent on the estimate process will be applied toward the final cost of the project.

Is it worth it to for you to pay for an estimate?

We hate to answer a question with a question, but do you want ensure your time and money are spent creating a website that is exactly what you want, or are you okay getting a website that's just good enough to make do? If you're serious about getting a custom application built, then it is in your best interest to get it done right. The specification development has a value above and beyond giving you a final estimate. The entire process will help you refine your ideas and collaborate with programming professionals. You may find ways to do things better, or you may find that you need to make critical adjustments. Either way, you will get a superior website.
