Evaluate Help and Support

Looking Through Internet-Explorer-Colored Glasses

Are you unimpressed with the advancements that the internet has made in the past nine years? Do you think that Web design has not gotten better — in fact it has gotten much worse? Have you seen websites with photos and information haphazardly strewn about and most of the functionality doesn’t even work?

If this is your view of the internet, it may be because you’re still using Internet Explorer 6, a browser that was released in 2001. It may not be your fault that your surfing experience is being crippled by this ancient browser. In fact, many companies have IT departments that purposely keep IE6 as part of its standard network issue because upgrading hundreds of computers would be cost-prohibitive.

On the other hand, as the internet advances and support for IE6 is dropped, employees who rely on the internet to do their jobs will find their productivity diminished. Thousands of companies who develop applications for the web are dropping IE6 support at a breakneck speed. Among these companies are Google, 37Signals, YouTube and soon Digg. It’s only a matter of time before your company is forced to bite the bullet and upgrade it’s browsers.

Once you are using a new browser, you’ll be amazed to see that all the promise of the internet of tomorrow is already here. If you want to experience the internet in its full glory, we urge you to put pressure on your IT team to upgrade to IE9 which promises to be the best IE browser yet.
