Helpful New Privacy Feature From Facebook

One of the great things about Facebook is that it allows you to instantly connect with people all over the world.  You can share information, photos, videos, links, news and more.  Of course, sometimes you may want to control who has access to the information that you post.  For instance, if you have some clients or business associates as Facebook friends, then maybe you don’t want them to see your latest joke.  But you also don’t want to have to post that joke on every one of your friend’s walls.  So wouldn’t it be great if you could pick exactly which of your friends was allowed to see your post?

In the past, when you made a post, you had some basic capabilities to choose who saw it, but they were limited to choosing ALL of your friends, or choosing ALL of your friends AND all of their friends too.   Ack!  Better hope that joke of yours is really funny!  Soon, however, Facebook users will be able to control which of their friends can access specific posts.  So in case you want to post something hilarious that most of your friends would like but a few of your virtual friends and co-workers wouldn’t find amusing, you will soon be able to make sure that only the people who can appreciate the joke will be able to view it in the first place.

Of course, this has business applications as well. Maybe you want to post up something about a promotion that your company is running, but you know that only some of the people on your Friends list will be interested in it.  Or maybe you might even want to target a certain demographic within your group of virtual friends. There are many possibilities.

With so many new features being added all the time, and with Facebook becoming such a ubiquitous part of most people’s Internet activity, if you don’t have a Facebook page and/or a Fan page for your business or organization, now is the time to get one.  An established online presence really is a must these days.  If you need help putting your Facebook page together or making the most of it, give us a buzz and we’ll help you extend your reach and make the most of every contact.
