It has been a week of frustrating computer problems. My programmer is actively trying to remove a nasty Trojan virus from his computer. And I just spent my week restoring my computer after my hard disk crashed and burned.
Yes, it was a pain. The time spent loading my applications back on took a lot of time that I could have been working on a client project. However, things could have been much worse. I could have lost all my email, and all of my client projects. That would have made this inconvenience a complete and total nightmare.
Backups Saved the Day!
Consider this a public service announcement, and a reminder to you to backup your website especially if you have a content management system like WordPress. Consider that changes made to your website, from content to search engine optimization, may not be replicated completely if you lose the files. Blog posts are another rich source of information that would be hard to duplicate without a backup.
Though we make weekly backups of all our hosted sites, if you’re with another host you might not have this service. If you make changes to your site daily, consider backing up your site more than once a week. Check out our tutorials here to find out how to make your own backups.
Hard disk failure can strike at any time, but if you’re prepared you could save yourself a lot of time and headaches.
Avoid Other Unforeseen Disasters
