Disaster Preparedness for the Real World

Imagine that you are making a routine visit to your website, the website that you have invested money, time and energy into. It may even be the website that is the lifeblood of your business, and/or the website that has always functioned perfectly and never given you any problems before.

Suddenly, strange error messages start appearing on the screen. Your pages aren’t loading properly, links are broken and then. . . nothing. Your website is gone.

When the unthinkable happens and your website goes down, what will you do?  If you don’t have your website backed up, you could be looking at the loss of what is undoubtedly a large investment of both time and money.   Your web designer or web development company may have a copy of your site, but it is still a good idea to have at least one copy of your own.

future-ink always has a copy of your original site, and we can go back one week to retrieve your data. But that’s not always enough. If your site has a database, backing up becomes even more critical. With dynamic sites like ecommerce, real estate listings, membership/dating sites and others that users have had access to, it’s not likely that you’ll have all the information or resources to get all the information back in.

Server crashes can happen at any time, and it’s always bad timing.

If you aren’t sure how to make a backup copy of your website, ask your website design/development or hosting company for more information.  If that’s us, we’re happy to give you step-by-step instruction just give us a call.

Thanks to provide such a informative guide.
I think we should backing up all the databases and files of our website to a remote location hundreds of miles away (and ideally inland) from your community’s computers, so no matter how large a disaster is, we can recover it later.
