If you’re reading this article it probably means that you’re at least playing with the idea of starting a blog, but you’re not sure if it something you want to commit to. Or if you already have a blog, you may be looking for a way to make it easier. So here are some ideas about how you can fit a blog into your already packed business day.
The One Hour Ritual
Create a morning ritual for yourself so that you set enough time aside to write. I give myself one hour each morning to write a new blog post. If you try to write after your day is in full tilt, you won’t find a moment to spare.
Beat Blogger’s Block
A great way to avoid getting blogger’s block is to keep a list of ideas you have for posts. For more inspiration, you can read “Surefire Blogger’s Block Breakthroughs” , and “Beat Blogger’s Block: The Five Types Of Blogs That You Should Be Writing”.
It’s Not Brain Surgery
Even if you’re a brain surgeon, writing a blog is a lot easier than staring into someone’s cranium. Relax! Have fun. Blogging is the first step in social media, so you can be “social” and let your personality shine through. If your business has as much glamor as paper shredding, your personality will make your business blog exciting to read. If you don’t believe me check it out this paper shredding blog yourself.
Write until You’re Finished
Your posts can be as short as one paragraph or as long as 3 pages or more. Don’t psych yourself out by thinking what you said isn’t enough. If you wrote everything that you needed to say, then you’re finished.
The Payoff
If you haven’t committed to a blog yet, or if you’re struggling with the one you have, remember what the end game is: More Business.
Blogs bring traffic, and they help to qualify your prospects by giving them a taste of your personality, your knowledge, and your business brand. So don’t be shy. Blogs give you an opportunity like no other to strut your stuff. And if you can’t face the blog world on your own yet, we’re here to help!

I’m considering a blog, but haven’t decided yet, mostly because I’m worried about the time commitment. These are wonderful ideas though, very helpful. Can you tell me how often I need to post to my blog in order to make it effective?

Hi Laura, there isn’t any hard rule about how often you should post. Even if you choose to blog one time per week, you’ll notice some positive effects the most important one being that your site will be indexed more frequently by search engines. Just remember if you’re going to blog infrequently your content should be more robust (longer and more in depth) to keep subscribers interested.
