Beat Blogger’s Block: The Five Types Of Blogs That You Should Be Writing

If you have a corporate blog, you know how valuable these types of blogs can be in terms of increasing traffic to your company’s website. The good news is that writing a good blog post is something that everyone can do, provided that they focus on providing the most information in the most succinct way for their readers.  Here are the five most common types of blog posts that successful corporate blogs use.

  1. Lists: Lists are attention grabbing, short, and to the point.  The ten ways to do something (or not do something) the five types of something, etc. Not only are these types of posts among the easiest to write, but they are also very popular with readers and other bloggers.
  2. Product or Service Reviews: People often search online for information about a product, company, or service before they spend money on it, so why not let them come to your blog? If there is a new product, service, or a company that provides services directly related to your industry, writing an informative review about it is a great way to increase readership and add credibility to your blog
  3. Interviews: Do you have the opportunity to speak with an expert in your industry? Whether this is someone from your company or not, a short interview blog post in Q&A format is sure to grab the attention of your readers, provided, of course, that you ask the right questions.
  4. How-To’s: We’ve all seen these types of posts. From how-to clean your bathroom, to how-to restart your frozen iPod, do your taxes, write a thank you note, etc. these types of posts are proven traffic drivers, because most Internet users are in search of the best answers to their questions.  If you are an expert in your chosen field, why not share your expertise with others in a blog post?
  5. Opinion: These can take the form of responses to articles, television appearances, statements, etc. and are a staple of the blogging world.  Don’t just rant (or rave) mindlessly however. Be sure to tie your post back to some aspect of your industry and/or corporate philosophy, and don’t forget about keyword density.

There are many different types of blog posts, and many different ways to write them. Experiment with what works for you, and you’ll never have blogger’s block again.

    Take care
